The Osiliana archaeological database brings together artefacts from Saaremaa and the surrounding small islands.
Most of Saaremaa’s archaeological finds are held in the collection of the Saaremaa Museum and in the Tallinn University Research Collection.
We are gradually adding more and more finds and hope that it will become a useful tool for all history and archaeology enthusiasts!

Valjala hillfort
Penannular brooch, bronze, Thickening, grooved ring and stylized animal-shaped terminals. Similar brooch was in burial No 1 (1971) at Valjala churchyard. Analogues are known from some find complexes in northern Couronia, e.g. in burial no 6 of Ance cemetery, as well as in burial no 1 in the churchyard of St Peter in Riga. Both these graves are dated to the end of the 13th century or to around 1300 AD.
